Hooman Khorasani, M.D.

Dr. Khorasani is the Chief of Mohs, Reconstructive & Cosmetic Surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.

Dr. Khorasani is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs and cosmetic surgeon who practices a full range of medical and surgical dermatology. Dr. Khorasani’s areas of specialized training include skin cancer management, Mohs surgery, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery including liposuction, neck sculpting, scar revisions, blepharoplasty (eyelifts), laser procedures, peels, Botox and fillers.

As an assistant professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Dr. Khorasani is actively involved in teaching surgical and cosmetic procedures to residents and fellows from all around the world.

Dr. Khorasani’s primary research has been scarless wound repair. In particular, he has focused on the molecular agents involved in fetal scarless wound healing. Dr. Khorasani has presented his work at multiple national meetings including the annual meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Khorasani’s latest publication, "A Quantitative Approach to Scar Analysis," appeared in the February 2011 issue of the American Journal of Pathology. This publication provides a ground breaking technique deemed essential to the field of wound healing research.

Dr. Khorasani graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a degree in Physiological Sciences where he earned the prestigious Paulson Scholarship. He graduated medical school with highest distinction from the University of Southern California, an honor given to the top five percent of the graduating class.

After graduating from medical school, Dr. Khorasani completed his internship in General Surgery at the USC-LA County Hospital where he gained extensive exposure to trauma and reconstructive surgery.

Following his surgical internship, Dr. Khorasani completed a research fellowship in Plastic Surgery at the University of Southern California School of Medicine, where he studied scarless wound repair.

Dr. Khorasani served as chief resident and completed his dermatology residency at Metropolitan Hospital and Montefiore North in New York City.

After residency, Dr. Khorasani completed a fellowship in Procedural Dermatology and Mohs Surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center where he performed skin cancer surgery, reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery.
